About Bethany Benes

Profile:

Bethany focuses her practice on business and commercial litigation, trusts and estates litigation, property litigation, construction litigation, trade secrets and IP litigation, and appeals. She is licensed to practice in all Virginia state trial courts, as well as the Eastern District of Virginia and Western District of Virginia.
Her experience includes handling high-profile and complex cases. In 2016, she was a member of the litigation team that obtained the largest jury verdict in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as reported in Virginia Lawyers Weekly. Bethany has expertise representing clients in court proceedings before the Virginia Supreme Court and state and federal courts in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. In addition to being one of Virginia Business Magazine's Legal Elite since 2014, Bethany was also named a "Super Lawyer" by Thomson Reuters in 2019.
As a former law clerk in Virginia’s busiest trial court, Bethany has a unique understanding of the trial practice. She uses this knowledge to formulate efficient and beneficial strategies for her clients. While the litigation process has become well known to Bethany, she understands the stresses it causes clients. To reduce the unknowns and alleviate any anxiety a client may experience, Bethany makes it a priority to be available to her clients to educate and communicate with them about each step of the litigation process.
In addition to her legal work, Bethany is a leader in several bar and community associations. She is an active member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Bar Association, the Fairfax Bar Association, and the Virginia Women Attorney’s Association. Bethany served as the Chair of the Northern Virginia Pro Bono Hotline. She was the former Chair of the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors for Britepaths (formerly known as Our Daily Bread, Inc.).
A native of Northern Virginia, Bethany received a Bachelor of Science from George Mason University before receiving her law degree from American University, Washington College of Law. While at American, Bethany was involved in the trial advocacy program, including the Mock Trial Honor Society. In addition to serving as a summer law clerk to the Honorable Nelson W. Rupp of the Montgomery County Circuit Court, following law school, Bethany clerked for the Honorable Bruce D. White of the Fairfax County Circuit Court.
